Work-Based Learning (WBL) has always been an integral component of quality Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. High school students and educators can access work-based learning opportunities including internships, apprenticeships, and paid work experiences.
1774 WORK-BASED LEARNING: SEMINAR (PaCE)
Credits: Variable credit up to 45 credits
Prerequisites: None
Meets requirement(s): Elective
Open to Grades: 10th-12th Grade
Work-based Learning (WBL) Seminar replaces PaCE 1 and PaCE 2. The program offers high school students the opportunity to develop skills necessary to be successful in a paid, unpaid or volunteer experience. This course will help students build and enhance their workforce ready skills which include communication, problem-solving, collaboration, interpersonal, self-management, and organizational skills. Students may select the level of involvement based on the time they wish to commit their school schedule and their desire for a paid or unpaid experience. Students receive 1 credit for every 15 hours of work/volunteer experience with a maximum of 5 credits per quarter and a maximum of 45 overall credits. Summer opportunities are available.
PSD WORK-BASED LEARNING COURSES (Internships/Apprenticeships/Paid Work Experience):

Prerequisites: WBL Coordinator approval (Ms. Thiebaut)
Meets requirement(s): Elective
Open to Grades: 9th-12th Grade
Work-Based Learning (WBL) programs offer eligible students an opportunity to earn high school credit and gain experience in a chosen pathway, profession, or industry. Students are eligible to enroll in a WBL course for an experience (internship, apprenticeship, paid relevant work experience) that is longer than 30 hours in length and earn variable elective credit (15 hours = 1 credit with a maximum of 5 credits per quarter). This course will support students as they develop professional workplace skills. Placements are based on availability and/or students chosen through an interview process. Students must meet the requirements of the WBL experience.

In Poudre School District the Alternative Cooperative Education (ACE) provides work experience, related classroom instruction and vocational transition planning for high school students with special needs. Students develop personal and career skills preparing them to live and work independently as vital, contributing members of their community.

- Eligibility: this program is for high risk students as well as on an Individual Education Plan (IEP) who demonstrate a need for transition services.
- Services: classroom instruction through running school-based businesses – Cup of Joe Coffee Shop and Saber Laser Engraving – and experiential learning opportunities to assist the student in developing personal and career skills. ACE includes Internships, paid work experience, mentoring and career tours.
